Our Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems prevent power spikes, surges and brownouts while redundant backup diesel generators provide additional fuel to keep the data center powered up in the event that public utility fails. Environmental ControlsIn the event of a fire, flood or earthquake, Equinix IBX centers are built with robust detection, suppression and preventive systems designed to minimize and prevent disruption to your operations.

Fire Detection and SuppressionEquinix IBX centers are constructed with cutting-edge fire detection and suppression systems that limit the potential for damage in the event of a fire. Key features of the fire detection and suppression system include:

Multi-zoned, dry pipe, water-based fire suppression systems with sensory mechanisms (sniffers) Dual alarms (heat and/or smoke) activation

Water only enters the fire suppression system in the event of two cross-zone alarms, and will only disperse in the event of a broken or melted sprinkler-head.

Any water discharge will be sprinkler-head specific, limiting the potential for damage caused by over-spray.

Physical SecurityThe physical security of the Equinix IBX center is our highest operational priority. Each IBX center utilizes an array of security equipment, techniques and procedures to control, monitor and record access to the facility, including customer cage areas.

All areas of the center are monitored and recorded using CCTV, and all access points are controlled. Every IBX center is staffed with 24-hour security officers to augment physical security features, providing financial-grade protection of your mission-critical Internet operations.

Visitors are screened upon entry to verify identity, and in shared situations, escorted to appropriate locations. Access history is recorded for audit by customers, as needed.

Equinix ExchangeT is a bundled offering that enables the interconnection of ISPs, content providers and enterprises. Based on a gigabit Ethernet central switching fabric, the Exchange service allows ISPs and content companies to trade traffic, or peer, directly with each other to significantly reduce cost and improve performance.
